London's Tate Britain has unveiled the work of the four artists nominated for the Turner Prize. Simon Starling is one of four artists that could win the art world's biggest prize.

Electric bike artist nominated for Turner Prize

His artwork ‘Tabernas Desert Run 2004’ featured a ride across the Tabernas desert in Spain on an electric bicycle, a work helped on its way by Ben Cooper of Glasgow bike shop, Kinetics.

The only waste product the vehicle produced was water, which he used to paint an illustration of a cactus.

"The contrast between the supremely efficient cactus and the contrived efforts of man is both comic and insightful, highlighting the commercial exploitation of natural resources in the region," says the Tate Britain website.

The other nominees are Darren Almond, Jim Lambie and Gillian Carnegie. The winner will be announced on 5 December.
