Publish date:

The European Two Wheel Retailers' Association founder and FNCRM vice-president Jacques Lenel has died aged 81.

Mr Lenel was one of the initiators of the trade association in 1995 and he has been an active member of the committee since. He was President of ETRA from 1999 until 2003 when he handed over Presidency to Nigel Hill. Since the foundation of ETRA in 1995, he's said to have hardly missed any meetings of the committee. He was due to attend the ETRA meeting of the 21st October, but passed away at home on 11th October.

Mr Lenel and his wife, Jacqueline, had a successful bicycle and moped shop in the centre of Charleville-Mézières. They were extremely happy when, a few years ago, they were able to pass the business on to a young successor who continues to do good business. An afternoon visit to the shop was still part of Mr Lenel’s daily routine.

Following his retirement, he devoted his time to the French association, FNCRM and to ETRA. For FNCRM, he among other things took care of the monthly magazine.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday 19 October at 3 pm. in the church Saint Paul la Bellevue du Nord in Warcq (F).
Secretary General Annick Roetynck will represent ETRA at the funeral and present the family with condolences on behalf of all members.
