New York based Fenway Partners, Inc. announced mid-August it was to acquire the Bell Sports Corporation, owner of Bell helmets, Giro, Blackburn and Vistalite. The deal has now completed and Fenway has merged Bell with its 2003 acquisition Riddell Sports Group, forming a new company, Riddell Bell Holdings, Inc.

Fenway completes $240m acquisition of Bell

To merge Bell with Riddell, a leading supplier of American football helmets, Fenway arranged a new $130.2m senior secured credit facility and completed a $140m, 144A senior subordinated notes offering.

The new company produces more than 8 million helmets annually and will have projected 2004 revenues of more than $300m.

"Together, Bell and Riddell have the world’s largest research and development effort focused on head protection," said a statement from Fenway.
