A world record-attempting Live2ride cycle journey is taking place in Somerset today for Children in Need.

A team of 12 riders will attempt to ride the distance from Lands End to John O’Groats within 24 hours as a turbo trainer relay in aid of the BBC charity, starting today at 3pm.

Fisher Outdoor Leisure has donated Tacx Flow Ergo turbo trainers for the record attempt and is fuelling the riders with nutrition in the shape of Maxim gels, drinks and energy bars.

“Children in Need is such a great charity to support and Fisher are 100 per cent behind Live2ride and wish them every success in their attempt,” said Fisher Outdoor Leisure marketing executive Adam Dayson.

In order to beat the record the riders will be required to average 35 miles per hour for the entire 837-mile distance. The attempt is taking place at Waterloo, Frome in Somerset.

Dayson added: “For a challenge of this level we wanted to make sure they had the best trainers available and Tacx provides them with that. We also had to make sure they have all the energy they need and Maxim should keep them energized for the ride. It’s always great when we can put our passion for cycling towards such a good cause.”

Live2ride is encouraging those nearby to lend their moral support and shout encouragement to the team as they pedal towards their goal. For more details on the ride visit www.justgiving.com/l2rlejog
