Fisher Outdoor Leisure plan move to £2m 'distribution centre'

The move will be completed by April and will see the third-generation, family-owned business relocating to St Albans, Herts, from Enfield, Middlesex. Some internal operational changes have already been made, including new blood being brought on to the board

Fisher Outdoor's new 30 000 sq ft warehouse - and adjoining office suites - will treble the company's current stock-holding capacity.

"This expansion will allow us to build upon the significant growth we have experienced in recent years. In particular this has been fuelled by the acquisition of exclusive high profile brands such as MET, SRAM and Tacx," said Neill Keen, the newly promoted marketing director.

Gordon Fisher remains as managing director and Trevor Fisher as operations director but taking their seats on the board - and both with business expertise from outside the bike industry - are Jeremy Wyndham, the new chairman, and Fred Edwards, the new finance director.

Other internal changes include Matt Ward becoming sales director and Richard Allmark becoming commercial director.

“With the new board in place and our new distribution centre, we are well placed to take the leading role within the bicycle industry," said Gordon Fisher.

Luciana Sala, owner of MET helmets, said:

“[Fisher is]undoubtedly one of the most proactive and successful operations in the industry. In 2001 we awarded them our European Distributor of the Year Award for their outstanding performance.”

Fisher Outdoor Leisure was formed in 1934 and represents MET, SRAM, Tacx, Hollywood, Hamax, Maxim, Troy Lee, Asender, Bloc, Squire, Pedro’s and Basil.
