Quarterre Design Studio is four designers based in Clerkenwell, London: Daniele Ceccomori, Clive Hartley, Nick Mannion and Jason Povlotsky. BikeBiz caught up with Mannion (pictured) at a former prison at last week's Clerkenwell Design Week.

The four displayed their Furniture For Bikes collection in the confined space of what was once a prison cell. The collection was launched at last year's show and has since appeared in prestigious magazines such as Elle and Wallpaper.

Quarterre makes three sculptural bike stands, Hood, Shadow and Branchline.

Standalone or bolt-to-the-wall Branchline - made with bamboo and with hand-crafted leather cradles - costs a cool £930 and can hold two bikes.

Made of folded steel, Hood is wall-mounted faceted hook for hanging a bike (and some bits). The hanging lip is lined with leather.

The freestanding Shadow is sculpted from a single sheet of folded steel. Shadow’s cantilevered form can accommodate most wheel sizes.

Bike shops - such as Look Mum No Hands of London - are already using stands from Quarterre.
