Gold rush for Team GB's cyclists continues

Sir Chris Hoy scores his fifth gold medal
Publish date:

Following Bradley Wiggins' gold and Chris Froome's bronze in the men's time trial, and Lizzie Armistead's silver in the women's road race, Team GB's cyclists have continued to haul in the medals.

Yesterday Great Britain won the team sprint in the freshly minted London Velodrome and recorded a world record time in the process.

Sir Chris Hoy, Philip Hindes and Jason Kenny collected their gold medals - the fifth for Sir Chris who has now matched Sir Steve Redgrave's gold record.

The win was tempered by the disqualification of the women's team sprint team, comprising Victoria Pendleton and Jess Varnish. An illegal change over cut their medal hopes short, an added pity as the team had just recorded a world record time (which was swiftly surpassed by the China team).

An impressive seven million tuned in to watch Bradley Wiggins win gold.

There's plenty more track cycling today, including the Women's Keirin and Men's Team Pursuit.
