Google has released a video from its trials of the Self Driving Car and first impressions, from a cyclist’s point of view, are strong – the car’s software recognises cyclists early and even reads hand signals.
As seen in the below video, the car’s computer will automatically adjust speed and road position to accomodate other road users, whether they be cyclists or delivery trucks parked on the side of the road.
Out and about on the street sof Mountain View, California, the Self Drive vehicle has logged over 700,000 autonomous miles.
Toward the end of the video the car clearly seen waiting for a cyclist to clear an intersection before proceeding to turn right.
