Gore is reported to be once again ceasing its production of brake and gear cable products, with OE and distribution orders accepted until October.

Having previously flitted in and out of the cables business over the past two decades, Gore last pulled out of the market in 2001 and re-entered in 2007, having produced its first ever mountain bike cables in 1993.

Gore has said it will meet all commitments already in place before halting the production, managed by Jagwire of Taiwan.

The firm cited the difficulty in grabbing market share. Primarily an aftermarket label, retail prices were often higher than competitors. The product was largely defined by the membrane that coats the cable - a secret formula exclusive to Gore.
