The Poole-based distributor of GT and Mongoose bikes spent nine months researching which were the best unloading systems to move bikes around their expanded warehouse before settling on a system provided by Kaybe Conveyors. Two people can unload a container full of bike boxes in 45 minutes.

Hot Wheels warehouse extension complete; conveyor belt system installed

Hot Wheels has now completed its 50 percent extension to its warehouse in Poole and has purchased two powered vehicle unloading systems to further increase their capacity to deliver bikes.

Russell Merry from Hot Wheels said:

"We knew as soon as we became GT distributor that we would have to increase our personnel, infrastructure and improve our systems. The completion of the building and the new unloading and conveyor systems complete the jigsaw."

Warehouse manager Matt Farrow said:

"Bike boxes are obviously tall and quite narrow and they tend to topple over, we worked with Kaybe to get the right type of rollers to prevent this from happening. We can now unload a container in 45 minutes with two people and can process up to ten containers in a day."

Merry said the family-owned business will be "strengthening our office based staff in sales and marketing in readiness for a busy 2005. We’ve been busy and we plan to be busier."
