SAMH unveils cycling star as mental health icon

Hoy: Scotland’s first ambassador for mental health

The Scottish Association for Mental Health has unveiled Chris Hoy as its ambassador for mental health.

The cycling superstar will place mental health issues in the spotlight and perhaps links will be drawn between the experience of cycling and mental well-being.

Hoy said on the SAMH website: “Mental health and physical health work hand in hand. While achieving three gold medals in Beijing was made physically possible by years of training, my mental health was critical to realising my dream.”

“Everyone needs to appreciate the importance of good mental health, and know how to stay mentally healthy”.

Thanks to Cycle Social for bringing this to our attention.
