IBD narrowly fails in attempt to become MP

Mark Simmonds, the Conservative candidate won 17 298 votes. Elaine Bird notched up 16 783.

Until the last election the seat was previously a safe Tory seat and was only narrowly held by Richard Body in 1997.

Having a former IBD in parliament would have been nice, especially in the aftermath of FMD.

Shame on the voters of Lincolnshire!
