The category sales manager speaks out on how JVC's Adixxion action camera is ready for action out of the box, and on racing BMX when you're over 40 years old...

IN THE SADDLE: Neil Stewart, JVC

Where’s your favourite place to ride?
I like to ride any decent BMX Race track as I am still racing BMX competitively across the UK. I have six BMX bikes and three MTBs in my garage. My pride and joy is my Pure Bicycle Company BMX Race Bike. I’m on their Factory team so the Frame is part of my sponsorship deal. Last year I ended up with the National No7 Ranking for the Vets Class, and by the time this goes to press we would have finished our nine round national series and I should still be in the top ten. There are still loads of us over-40s racing BMX bikes on a weekend!

What’s the biggest achievable rush on a bike?
When racing BMX and I’m in the Semi Final, knowing only a top four finish will do to make the Final. Hitting the jumps at full speed battling with my fellow riders is a mega rush, but knowing I’m in that top four as I cross the line is the best feeling. I’ve been known to win the odd Semi Final too, but that first National Win still evades me…

Tell us about your day-to-day role at JVC.
I’m the category sales manager for imaging products. I started at JVC over six years ago selling car audio products. Now I look after imaging products with key dealers like Costco, Littlewoods and John Lewis. I also look after distribution and smaller independent dealers too. I look after camcorders and now Action cameras and our Adixxion range. I’ve virtually launched the product into the market and now am focusing on the GC-XA2, which launched this month. My main job is to sell but I also get stuck in with marketing and tech support.

What are some of the key features for JVC’s Adixxion?
One key feature is that it does not need a housing to make it waterproof. It’s Quad Proof and ‘Action Ready’ straight out of the box. Both models have a full colour screen built-in and full HD recording at 1080. The new GC-XA2 is capable of 1920 x 1080 full HD at 50P, this also has a new eight Megapixel Back Illuminated CMOS Sensor and F2.4 Super Wide Lens, which means the picture quality is superb in any conditions.

Will there be further cycle products in the pipeline?
JVC knows how important the cycle market is and obviously we’re still quite new to it, but I am sure with the success we have had already JVC will keep producing cycle products.

Are you looking for bike dealers to take stock?
We have met a few specialist distributors over the past few months and we really want one of them to take ownership of this product for the IBDs as they have the knowledge and set up for all the IBD network. Hopefully we will announce a newly appointed distributor of the JVC Adixxion soon, but in the meantime the bike dealers can contact me direct at neils@jvc.co.uk.
