Extra UK brand manager Bruno Nascimento sat down with BikeBiz to talk cycling achievments, trail riding and what’s new at Extra.
How many bikes do you own?
I can’t quite put a number on it, but I have a good mix of road, dirt jumping, cross-country and full-suspension mountain bikes.
Where are your favourite places to ride?
Woburn Sands – there is nothing like riding with mates and having a good laugh, either riding some great singletrack in the woods or hitting the same jump and berm in the bike park a hundred times in a row.
What’s your biggest cycling achievement?
My best result at an XC National Race was seventh place. I’ve done a few Grandfondo events on the road bike but the best achievement or best ride will be this year if I finish it, of course. I am doing Tour du Mont Blanc Enduro, 275km with only 5000m climbing but 24000m of epic singletrack and natural descents. It covers three countries – France, Italy and Switzerland – over six days.
What’s your role at Extra UK, and what does it entail?
My role at Extra is brand manager. I work within the marketing department, developing plans and strategies to grow brand awareness and market share through advertising, sponsorship, promotions and dealer support for certain brands within Extra’s brand portfolio.
How long have you been in the trade?
In the UK, I joined the trade in 2012. I started working for a local bike shop, Wellingborough Cycles. I later joined Bianchi in a marketing role and now I’ve been at Extra for five months; I can’t believe it‘s been five months already!
What’s the latest news from Extra?
There’s always lots going on here! We’ve added 1,288 new lines within our existing range for 2017. These include new categories for Topeak such as bikepacking, as well as upgrading other existing products like the popular Joe Blow Booster track pump with a new aluminium head.
