Indian company seeks Euro frame maker

Mr R D Sharma, Chairman of the Safari Group of companies, said the search for a European partner was already underway:

We are in touch with few European companies and holding talks with them for manufacturing frames and forks for MTBs in India.

Currently, Safari Bikes (turnover US$ 6.2 million) caters to the export market but is soon planning to enter the domestic Indian market in complete bicycles.

We are planning to push between 40 000 to 50 000 bicycles monthly in the domestic market, said Sharma.

Established in 1995, Safari Bikes export bicycles in 30 designs to over 40 countries. Safari exports full suspension, sports, children and mountain

bikes to Europe (Hybird brand) and strong and sturdy models in 22 and 24 to Africa.

Safari also manufactures and instals frame-manufacturing equipment and has recently equipped a bike making plant in Nigeria.
