India will host the Commonwealth Games in 2010 but India's track and road cyclists are not using world-class equipment, said JS Grewal, secretary general of the Cycling Federation of India.

Indian cycle team hampered with heavy bikes

Grewal praised Indian cyclists for coming up with good performances at the Asian Cycling Championships despite the lack of top-quality equipment.

”We are preparing a strong Indian team for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. However, we lack the equipment, including cycles," said Grewal.

"Koreans and Chinese are using world class cycles while our cyclists have heavy cycles.

"Our young girls and boys have given good performance in road races though they could not finish among medal winners. The foreigners are well-equipped in comparison to our cyclists,” said Grewal.
