Interbike introduces multi-platform smartphone app for pre-show and at-show planning

Interbike creates smartphone app

The Interbike mobile app, is sponsored by ride tracker Strava, has been released and is available for iPhones, iPads, Androids and Blackberry devices. The app is free and provide interactive exhibitor directories, floor maps, event schedules and planning tools.

With full contact information for the more than 750 exhibitors at the show, the app will also serve as a year-round "bike industry in your pocket," said a statement from Interbike.

The app also has real-time show alerts and notifications. It works offline with many features not requiring connectivity (a problem in many expo halls, although Interbike said the wifi at the Sands Expo and Convention Center will be much improved this year, albeit in designated areas only). The app’s Twitter integration, and some other features, require cellphone or wireless connectivity.

Produced by Core-Apps.com, a company producing apps for trade shows, the Interbike app is based on Core-Apps’ ‘Follow Me’ template first rolled out in 2009. The app features banner ads: clicking a banner takes the user to a ‘full page’ ad with a clickable link.

Strava, a mobile online service for tracking, comparing and competing while on the go, is working on a "social fitness" competition at OutDoor Demo on key trails at Bootleg Canyon and the Tour de Lake Mead. The Interbike app will be updated when this info becomes available.

Interbike 2011 begins with the with OutDoor Demo, September 12-13th, 2011 in Boulder City, Nevada, followed by the Interbike Expo, September 14-16th at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.
