Making their debut at Eurobike, the new Kryptonite KrF2 products include three chains, eleven different cables, three U-locks and one disc lock. They are not as super-tough as standard Kryptonite locks but offer security in “low to moderate crime areas”

Kryptonite launch Euro range of locks

The $27m Kryptonite Corporation of Massachusetts was bought by industrial giant Ingersoll-Rand two weeks ago.

Founded in 1972, the Kryptonite Corporation is most famous for its New York lock (and its snazzy shop display fitting resembling a US parking meter).

The black and orange KrF2 range will be available in Europe alone and will be cheaper than standard Kryptonite locks.

"Kryptonite understands that some consumers need an affordable way to secure bicycles, scooters and motorcycles in low to moderate crime areas," said Tripp Wyckoff, director of Action Sports at Kryptonite.

"KrF2 products are the simple, cost effective solution to these consumers’ needs. The products have great Kryptonite form and easy-to-use functionality for well-lit, low crime areas."

KrF2 by Kryptonite has eighteen new products. All cables are braided steel for easy folding and strorage but tough to cut through. The cables range in length from 55cm all the way to 100cm. They have vinyl covering to protect the finish of the item being secured.

The U-locks are made of hardened steel and display flat keyways and all come with a bracket. The resettable combination bicycle lock is 4-digits and has more than 10,000 possible combinations.

The chains range in length from 100cm to 130cm. Each chain has a black nylon covering.. The orange stapler style disc lock has a 10mm pin.

"Kryptonite continues to recommend that serious bicycle users, commuters and people who ride in urban areas use the higher level security items that we design and manufacture," said Wyckoff.
