Lance can't go for Boardman's Hour record...

...because he'll have to go for Ondrej Sosenka's record set in Moscow earlier today. The Czech rider bested Boardman by 300m, managing 49.7km in the hour.

Sosenka, a rider for the Acqua&Sapone team, was riding a Moser made from aluminium tubes.

Should Lance Armstrong ever take a crack at the Hour record - he was reported to be thinking about it last year - he would ride a carbon Trek.

Chris Boardman is currently commentating on the Tour de France for ITV2 in the UK. No doubt, he'll mention Sosenka's feat on tonight's programme.

Antonello Della Corte, general manager of Vuelta wheels, said:

"Sosenka has accomplished his record riding a Moser bicycle and Vuelta Italy wheels: technology entirely made in Italy."
