Floyd Landis won the Tour de France in 2006 but was stripped of his title after failing to to disprove a positive test for synthetic testosterone. He embarked on a lengthy and costly campaign to clear his name but has now admitted to years of systematic use of doping products.

In emails to cycling and anti-doping officials he admitted to his deceit.

ESPN.com and the Wall Street Journal have broken the story.

In 2006, BikeBiz.com refused to accuse Landis of doping, saying the case was not yet proven.

His admission of guilt is a severe body blow to those who argued that the scientific evidence against Landis was shaky.

In his emails, Landis also accuses others of doping duplicity including Lance Armstrong, Johan Bruyneel, George Hincapie, Levi Leipheimer and Dave Zabriskie.
