Cycling Scotland is looking for tenders to organise Scotland’s biggest bike ride freshnlo Pedal for Scotland.
The annual mass participation ride takes place in September and started as a 50-mile ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh in 1999. It now incorporates the same ride, as well as a 100-mile Sportive and a nine-mile Edinburgh Family Ride, while also being linked to Sky Ride Glasgow, including riders of all abilities. In 2010 over 9,000 people took part.
Cycling Scotland is seeking an experienced event management company to lead the operational delivery of the event.
Cycling Scotland said: “This will entail taking the lead operational role from the early planning stage right through to the on-the-day management of the event, and the tender will be for three years. The successful company will be expected to fulfil duties including liaison with all local authorities, police, emergency services and community groups, prepare all traffic management and event management documentation and co-ordinate all aspects of the event delivery on behalf of Cycling Scotland. All communications activity for the event will be managed by Cycling Scotland and will not form part of the tender.
“Cycling Scotland recommends that any interested parties should attend the 2011 event, either as an observer or as a participant. The event is taking place on 11 September. Following the opportunity to observe or participate in the 2011 event, the tender document will be made available in late September, with the tender submission deadline closing at the end of October.”
