Cycle repairer Fred Hopper started a manufacturing business in 1880. The business was later run from offices opposite the George Hotel with a state-of-the-art factory built on Marsh Road in Barton-on-Humber.
The conversion of the HQ of the Hopper empire building to 25 two-bedroom apartments, duplexes and split-level penthouses is being carried out by niche developer, Copperfield Developments.
Barry Smith, MD of Copperfield Developments said:
"We’re very proud of the Hopper Building. It has a unique and important history and much of the original fabric of the building, such as the Edwardian joinery, quality brickwork, high ceilings and distinctive detailing has been retained."
