Evil is back once more and will kick 2013 off with the release of the Undead, a new carbon fibre downhill rig now in stock with Silverfish.
A high-pressure moulded carbon fibre constructed main frame wraps Evil’s Delta-Link suspension system to give the Undead 203mm of rear travel and a low race ready weight. Based on Dave Weagle’s Delta Suspension System, the Undead shares a lot of the geometry and ride attributes, which made the Revolt so popular, but tips the scales at just over 10Ibs, a whole 3Ibs lighter than its predecessor.
Flip Chip geometry gives the rider the ability to tune the BB height, while upfront the bike features an adjustable head angle, without the need for additional headset cups. Out of the box dampening duties for the 203mm of travel are handled by a Fox RC4 Kashima rear shock, which is protected by a removable carbon mudguard.

Endura helmets and luggage

If you missed out on Core Bike in January you’ll likely not have seen that Endura has entered the helmets market.
The brand’s Airshell helmet, retailing at £89.99 and weighing in at 200 grams, is set to be available in four colours and will go on sale this month. A £69.99 model dubbed the Snype will also become available at the same time.
On to the luggage and Endura has carefully analysed what the travelling athlete, particularly the triathlete, needs from their luggage. Revealing a roller kit bag at the show, we got to lay our hands on it and revealed internal cycle specific compartments for helmets, cycle shoes, gloves and eyewear, but also a removable laundry bag and cycle shoe bag. The kit bag even boasts a fold out changing mat.
The Scottish firm has also announced that it will allow dealers ‘stock rotation’, allowing for a variety of stock to be carried, but if unsold, items can be returned in exchange for account credit.

Madform

Debuting at The Bike Place exhibition last month, Madform is a Spanish label popular with sports physiotherapists, including the likes of Barcelona FC’s medical staff.
The flagship Sportline formula, also available in a 120ml double strength tube, prepares the muscles and joints before physical activity and helps them to recover afterwards.
For post-exercise, the Madfreeze cold-effect gel provides quick relief for muscles or joints pain caused by tension, strains, sprains and pulls.

Modular work station

Some of you may have spotted at Eurobike, or in BikeBiz’s 2011 show coverage, a modular workstand from Weldtite.
Highly adaptable, the head can mount onto anything from work benches or stands, to wall mounted brackets, enabling a store or home mechanic to make the most of their space.
The soft jaws of the clamp are kind to frames and are easily released thanks to a head mounted ratchet handle. The head also rotates through 360-degrees, enabling bikes to be clamped on the downtube or seatpost for easier access.
Also new from Weldtite brand Cyclo, is a Rivoli chain extractor, compatible with nine, ten and eleven-speed chains and carrying a revolving hardened pin to prevent breakage. Packs of ten extractors are available to the trade for £40. Weldtite already offers the same package for its 5,6,7,8 and 9-speed tool.

Schwalbe Ultremo zx

In the races up to and after the Melton Classic, Node4 Giordana and Team Raleigh will be testing the newest Schwalbe tyre on the road market – the Ultremo ZX Tubeless.
The extremely fast and safe tubeless road tyre gives no component friction between tyre and tube. Its construction radically minimises rolling resistance and virtually excludes sudden air loss.
The tyres will be available to the trade from May in a tubeless set, which will include two tyres, Easy Fit solution and Doc Blue sealant – though they will only be available in selected specialist bicycle dealers due to the technical nature of the product.

Showers Pass Crosspoint gloves

Showers has been busy working on a line of gloves for 2013 that will lay claim to being the first to combine a merino wool liner with an ‘Outdry’ waterproof membrane.
Developed using world‐renowned OutDry technology, the Crosspoint line includes four distinct gloves designed for active cycling that combine wind sheer, extreme waterproofing and low temperature protection with form fitting comfort. Unlike other gloves using similar ideas, Showers Pass waterproof membrane is bonded and directly laminated to the external shell – meaning there is no gap between the layers in which water could become trapped.
The glove line will land with NRG4 in August and be available in four designs, with wide ranging men’s and women’s sizes on offer.

Polartec Neoshell jackets

Having partnered with fabric giant Polartec, Sugoi has come up with the ‘world’s first’ NeoSheel cycling jacket, among other new garments.
Claiming to be both breathable and waterproof, this elite-level jacket should offer noticeable advantages over jackets that tend to do have either one or the other of the aforementioned qualities.
With a drop tail, fully taped seams and water and wind proofed zippers, the jacket is tailored for comfort in the most unforgiving of conditions. What’s more, the Neoshell features a detachable hood, which slips on and off with magnets and stows in a zippered back pocket.
The pro-fitted RSE NeoShell Jacket will be available in Black or Cyan in size S–XL and retails for £249.99. The semi-fitted RSX NeoShell Jacket (with detachable magnetic hood) will be available in Black or Cyan n size S–XL and retails for £259.99.

Whyte aftermarket components

You may have noticed in last month’s London Bike Show review that Whyte has debuted a flashy range of bars, stems, grips and saddles, among other bits.
“These will keep Whyte riders in the brand when they look to upgrade,” says Whyte designer Ian Alexander. There’s both a sport and a comfort saddle, with a double density pad and reinforced resin shell providing a robust perch.
Whyte’s trail 20mm riser bar comes in at 710mm wide and is made with a lightweight 2014 alloy, which is shot peened for extra strength.
Whyte’s stems are the eye-catcher of the bunch, coming in 60, 70 and 80mm reaches and supplied with interchangeable face plates in a gold, orange and cyan shade for colour matching to Whyte’s main colour schemes.
