Canyon Eisberg will be racing on the premium tyre

Maxxis UK has announced that its new High Road tyre will make its first public appearance at the OVO Energy Tour of Britain 2018, before becoming available to consumers early next year.

UCI Continental team Canyon Eisberg will be racing on the premium tyre, giving thousands of spectators their first glimpse of the latest Maxxis technology.

Canyon Eisberg has exclusive access to this version of the clincher tyre, marking the first time it will be used in a pro peloton environment.

Maxxis UK bicycle brand manager Stephen Robinson said: “We’re proud to be launching our High Road tyre at one of the biggest events on the European road cycling calendar.

“It’s a great feeling to have Maxxis technology being used by a UCI Continental team, demonstrating the quality and constant improvements we are making to our road cycling range.

“We’ve been working with Canyon Eisberg for some time now, with the team enjoying many victories on our tyres, including the recent 10th edition of the OVO Energy Tour Series.

“To be officially launching the High Road with some of the best riders in the country represents the next level in our relationship, and we can’t wait to cheer the guys on from the sidelines at the OVO Energy Tour of Britain.”

An eventual replacement to the Padrone TR and featuring a raft new Maxxis technology, the tyre is the fastest dual-compound tread pattern the leading cycle brand has produced.

The new characteristics on the tyre include K2 puncture protection, which is a thin layer of Kevlar Composite from Maxxis that offers riders enhanced protection when tackling a multitude of weather conditions.

The new silica compound on the tyre also helps to boost performance, featuring a 16 per cent improvement in rolling resistance, as well as bettering previous Maxxis technology for wet grip by 23 per cent.

The Canyon Eisberg team, featuring European Champion Andy Tennant, will be taking part in all eight stages of the Tour of Britain from the 2nd – 9th of September, visiting the cities and regions of Newport, Devon, Somerset, Warwickshire, Cumbria, the Lake District, Nottinghamshire and London.
