The local bike shop bags Best New Business Awards at West Oxfordshire Business Awards

Mickey Cranks triumphs in local business awards

Mickey Cranks has been named as the winner of the Best New Business Award at the 2015 West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBAs).

Winners were announced at a glamorous event hosted at Heythrop Park Resort.

Mick Murphy, of Mickey Cranks, said: “A little over two years ago I was teaching Special Forces soldiers how to skydive with weapons and oxygen in various deserts around the world, the bike industry is so far removed from my previous life I never could have imagined achieving this success, and certainly never would have if it was not for my team at Mickey Cranks, they are the main reason we have been successful in a very competitive industry.”

WOBA Gala Dinner guests received a personal video message from Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron (who officially opened the shop in 2013) who was unable to make this year’s awards.

He said: “Now celebrating its fifth year, West Oxfordshire Business Awards continues to be a great showcase of the very best that local businesses have to offer here in West Oxfordshire. I am a big supporter of small businesses and I am extremely proud that my constituency plays host to so many. They are the lifeblood of our local and national economy and it is great to see their vital role being recognised at the Awards. I know how much time and energy has been spent by the Awards team and its sponsors to make this event such a success and I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”

Jo Sensecall from the WOBA organising team said: “The calibre and breadth of entries this year has been exceptional and we would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists who should be very proud of their achievements. As the WOBAs move beyond their fifth year, we look forward to welcoming even more entries for the 2016 awards as business in West Oxfordshire continues to thrive.”
