York's BA bash gets name
The BA/CTC show planned for June next year now has a name: the National Cycling Festival 2000. It will be staged on 23-25th June and will share the same venue as the York rally but will be a separate paid-for destination in its own right.
Ticket prices are expected to be £5-6, with various concesssions.
As well as a soom-to-be-released and a yet-to-be-confirmed national media partner the show organisers, Essential Events of Bath, today revealed to BikeBiz that IPCs four consumer cycle magazines are the official cycle media backers of the event. Future with their market leading title MBUK declined to take up an option on the event, preferring to concentrate their spend on their own public show, Bike 2000 at the NEC in the Spring.
Editorial teams from Cycling Weekly, Cycle Sport, MBR and MBI would be briefed about the show and expected to drum up support for attendance. The magazines would each have a
presence at the show. There would also be house magazine ads for the show in return for being the cycle media partner although Curtin is keen to stress the deal does not preclude
other magazine publishers from either exhibiting or being media partners of sorts.
