PTRC Education and Research is offering a London-based training course delivered in ten one-hour weekly sessions. "Providing for Cycling" starts in April. PTRC is the training offshoot of CILT, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

The first session is entitled "No One Likes Us, We Don’t Care’? Cycling, Stigma, and Identity."

There are also sessions on the public health benefits of cycling; cycle infrastructure; cycle training; and monitoring.

PTRC says that at the end of the course "participants will have a clear understanding of how wider transport and planning policies impact on the uptake of cycling as a mode of transport, as well as the effect that media coverage and the public image of cyclists has on people’s transport mode choices."

The course – which qualifies for 10 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) – has been designed for people working in the fields of transport planning, transport policy, highway engineering, road safety, and public health. It will also be of interest to people addressing cycling and transport issues within the third sector and academia.

The expert speakers include Lucy Saunders of TfL, Keith Firth of Norman Rourke Pryme, Mark Strong of Transport Initiatives, Abs Tripp and Isabelle Clement of Wheels for Wellbeing, Adrian Lord of Phil Jones Associates, and Neil Guthrie of Jacobs.

After the government closed Cycling England the quango's digital materials were placed on the CILTwebsite.
