Future publishing has appointed John Stevenson as editor-in-chief of its portfolio of cycling websites and magazines.

Stevenson previously held the role of Austalia-based international editor of www.BikeRadar.com and begins his new role on March 1st, where he’ll be charged with developing the portfolio alongside Cycling Group publisher Katherine Raderecht.

The new editor-in-chief has over 20 years experience in the bike field, including a stint at Future earlier in his career in the early 90’s.

"I'm incredibly excited to be returning to the UK to take up my dream job,” enthused John Stevenson. “At Future, we create excellent cycling magazines, websites and events but we've lacked a specialist overall leader and mentor. I'm really looking forward to helping drive our growth in the sector."

Future UK COO Simon Wear said: “John has been a key driver in the growth and success of Future’s world leading cycling portfolio since returning in 2006. This new role recognises his importance in the efforts to further develop and strengthen our portfolio of magazines, websites and events globally.

“Whilst the media backdrop looks challenging in 2009, Future has ambitious plans for its cycling portfolio that John will spearhead editorially,” Wear added.
