Forestry Commission Wales has put out tenders for the construction of a new MTB centre for Gethin Woods, near Aberfan

New MTB centre for Wales

Forestry Commission Wales seeking to enter into a contract with a private sector enterprise for the design, construction, management and operation of a new mountain bike facility as part of the Visit Wales Initiative and Heads of the Valleys Regeneration scheme. The facility is to be created at Gethin Woods, at Aberfan, near Merthyr Tydfil.

The construction will create new downhill runs, a reception centre (plus, in all probability, a hire outlet and bike shop), and uplift facilities for getting DH bikes back to summits.

The centre is to be created, managed and operated by the successful tenderer, under a lease of rights agreement from Forestry Commission Wales.

The new centre will be in addition to existing Forestry Commission Wales MTB centres at Coed y Brenin, Nant yr Arian, Afan Forest Park, Glyncorrwg, Cwmcarn Forest, Garwnant, Brechfa, Glasfynydd and Marin in Snowdonia.
