No disruption over Tube strikes?

RMT strikes have either resulted in no, or some disruption on the London Underground, according to conflicting sources. The union and Transport for London are disputing the impact of the Tube Lines-employed staff strikes, running until 18:59 tomorrow (Friday June 25th).

Should the strikes cause a significant impact – or become prolonged if the dispute remains unsettled, it could result in another surge of cyclists into the capital, with commuters anxious not to be delayed by the industrial action turning to two wheels.

A TfL spokesperson said: "The RMT action is having no significant impact, and we intend to operate a full service throughout the duration of the strike.

"All safety and emergency response duties are covered, and the network is operating as normal."

However a spokesperson for RMT, speaking to the BBC, said there were already delays on several lines – including the District, Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines – due to unrepaired signal faults and drivers subsequent refusal to move trains due to safety concerns.
