Bikmo of Chester is seeking £125,000 in crowd-funding support to further develop its bike-specific "compare the market" website. (No meerkats are involved). The crowd-funding is taking place on Dragons'-den-style Seedrs, with £10 being the lowest stake available.

Bikmo was two years in the making and is run by a small tech team headed by David George, a former nuclear engineer with Rolls-Royce.

The site has details from 50 online retailers and 2,500 local independent retailers.

George said: “The cycle industry has adopted Bikmo with open arms and we’re seeing retailers and cycle media wanting to be part of the site and involved with what we are doing.

“With the crowd funding investment, we will develop smartphone app versions of Bikmo, create exciting new features and make it even more user friendly. We will also develop new markets for the Bikmo brand.”
