Phone company launches 'The Joy of Cycling', promoting offers with Halfords and Oakley

O2 reaches out to cyclists with Victoria Pendleton ad

O2 customers will this month have access to exclusive cycle-themed deals from Oakley and Halfords.

Through O2’s ‘Priority Moments’ customers will be able to take advantage of a free bike service, offers on Oakley sunglasses and discounts on Halfords’ Appollo and Victoria Pendleton bikes.

The phone service provider has released its ‘Joy of Cycling’ advertising, starring Victoria Pendleton, including a YouTube video and Pendleton’s top ten training songs, which will be available to stream on O2’s app O2 Tracks.

Pendleton kicked off a round of quotes. The cycle champion said: “Cycling is really great for fun or fitness so I’m delighted to be working with O2 to help promote these fantastic deals through Priority Sports. From a free Halfords bike service and discounts on bikes to exclusive offers on Oakley eyewear, there’s something here for everyone who loves getting out on their bike.”

Mark Stevenson, head of O2 Priority and Sponsorship, said: “We hope to encourage millions of people to get on their bike and have fun, whether that’s racing or for going out for a leisurely ride on a sunny day. Our partnerships with Halfords, Oakley and Victoria Pendleton means there’s something for every cyclist this summer.”

Oakley UK brand director Tom Cartmale, Brand Director commented: “We are excited to collaborate with O2 Priority Sports on a campaign that celebrates the joy of cycling and enables us to build on our long-term relationship with Vicky. We hope the exclusive offers available to O2 customers at Sunglass Hut and David Clulow Opticians nationwide will inspire more people to ride their bikes, and look good while doing it.”

Head of Communications for Halfords David Sawday added: “Victoria’s new bicycle range is extremely popular with our customers. It’s designed to encourage more women to incorporate cycling into their daily lives and has become the best-selling women’s range in our 120 year history. We’re delighted to be working with O2 and Priority Sports to help inspire cyclists of all abilities with some amazing offers; such as 10 per cent off Victoria’s Somerby bike.”
