Off-road unicycles can't ride on bridleways

Alan Kind, long-time editor of Byway and Bridleway, the journal of the Byways and Bridleways Trust, has produced a guide on where cyclists can and cannot ride when out in the sticks.

A PDF of 'Notes & Materials on the Law of Cycling in the Countryside' is available on Hodology.com and has been embedded on the cycling and the law article on BikeHub.co.uk. This is the most visited page on the levy-funded website.

"Cyclists are not as active in rights of way work as are walkers and horse riders, and as a consequence there is no body of reports, advice and good practice available, other than for urban cycling provision," said Kind.

His publication aims to plug that gap.

"It is not a text book on cycling law, rather it is about how the law, regulations and administrative processes work – or all too frequently do not work – in practice," said Kind.
