An identity tag company founded by two club cyclists in 2011 is to start offering branded ID tags for bike shops and bike suppliers. The tags can be produced in company colours or with shop logos.

OneLife’s Craig Wilson said: “Shops or suppliers could order a generic card that is branded yet with personal contact details, much like a cycle shop sticker on a bike but packed with information. The tag could have a unique web link to the online profile page to which the bike purchaser could add their details; good for emergencies and possibly stolen bikes.”

The idea for a shop-branded tag came after OneLife developed a club-specific tag.

“Many newcomers have higher expectations of club membership than the traditional club cyclist,” said Wilson. “Current attitudes also mean that club leaders now have a social responsibility to manage risk. This can include ensuring participants in club events are club members, carry emergency identification and understand the risks and their responsibilities. The Club Member ID concept could be used by bike shops who operate their own clubs or rides, or they could go one step further and order more corporate-looking ID tags for their customers.

“It could help with personal service, especially for high-end bike purchasers."

OneLife produces small plastic tags printed with user information, and these tags can be attached to saddlebags, jersey zips and so on. The firm also produces stickers for attaching to helmets. The tags and stickers contain quicklick web addresses and smartccoded personalised emergency, medical or contact information
