Oops! Strike out what we said about Giants sales!

Far be it for us to be doom mongers but we had it on good authority that Giant of Taiwan was 40 percent down this year. We now stand corrected...
Publish date:

Following our 40 percent down story of last week, Grant Allen, MD of Giant UK, emailed with this clarification:

Reports that Giant group sales have fallen by 40 percent are not entirely accurate. The reports stem from an analysis of the Taiwan operation only, not the Giant Global Group which, across four manufacturing sites, has grown output by 12 percent in the last year. The analysis failed to take into account a restructuring of manufacturing output between sites in Taiwan and China.

Giant runs four manufacturing sites in Taiwan, China and in Holland. Despite earlier problems in Taiwan and interruptions in component supply all factories are working flat out to satisfy increased demand for the 2000 range across the world.
