Optimism abounds at second German show, just as at the first one

Trade has been lacklustre in most European countries this year, a surefire way to make buyers at the international trade shows more pessimistic than usual. There were 23 000 trade visitors (5980 from otside Germany) and 23 500 visitors on the public day.

"New momentum, an extremely positive atmosphere that far exceeded expectations, and a large number of orders for the bicycle sector in 2003 were the results of IFMA," said Bernhard Lange, chairman of the exhibitors' council of IFMA and MD of Paul Lange & Co., the 'Madison' of Germany.

In 2003, IFMA will take place from Thursday, 11th to Sunday, 14th September.
