The UK’s largest outdoor trade show is the aptly named Outdoor Trade Show. Now in it’s tenth year the show takes place at regular haunt Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire (15th to 17th September). Boasting a smattering of bike exhibitors as well as well known outdoor names, the show is a crossover event for those operating in both markets.
An impressive 15 exhibitors have been with the show since it began and this year they’ll be joined by 115 others, amounting to around 500 brands including the likes of Craghoppers, Trespass, Regatta, Hi-Tec, Burton McCall, Vango and Whitby & Co, as well as 2015 newcomers Outback UK and Mountain Boot Company. A record number of 27 exhibitors have also booked space outdoors for this year’s show too.
The new brands arena is back, showcasing fresh-faced names like Colapz, HydroFlask, Icebug UK, Ozpig and Stormchase. The awards will be back too, only considerably revamped. Titled the UK Outdoor Industry Awards, they’re now open to entries from brands across the industry and the winners will be showcased not just at the OTS, but also at the Telegraph Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show in February in front of a potential 50,000 customers, BikeBiz is told.
Aside from product, the Outdoor Trade Show is this year hosting the OIA Director’s Forum event at the Royal Pavillion in Stoneleigh Park. The evening consists of networking, debate, questions and presentations, including one from Cath Prisk, Director of Outdoor People and Board Member of The Wild Network. Prisk will deliver a presentation titled ‘Dangerous Play’ – Will cotton wool kids want to get outdoors?’ looking at what the barriers are to playing out and what can be done to remove them.
Sticking with networking, there’s also the Outdoor Trade Social on Wednesday 16th September.
“Following the excellent feedback we had from exhibitors and visitors at last year’s show, we are very pleased the momentum has continued with so many high profile brands having booked to exhibit at this year’s show,” says OTS organiser Marta Williams. “Pre-registration from retailers planning to attend this year’s show is also looking very positive. With OTS now in its tenth year, the show is well established and popular amongst both retail visitors and manufacturers/distributors, with the whole industry recognising that it is the place to be and not wanting to miss out on a great opportunity to do some serious business. It’s simply the outdoor trade highlight of the year.”
