Map My Track's iPhone app gets social media and ANT+ upgrade

OutFront gets more social

Map My Tracks is a multi-platform social network for sports and fitness enthusiasts, including cyclists. The website has an iPhone app, OutFront. This has now been upgraded to version 2.0. It allows users to keep a log of their workouts, monitor their performance and share their activities with friends and family.

OutFront 2.0 is designed around the concept of social fitness and uses Twitter-style following to connect and share activities with other Map My Tracks users. Activity commenting allows friends to offer encouragement while integrated sharing options with Facebook and Twitter lets users keep their social networks updated with their progress.

Along with the ability to record, analyse and find nearby activities, the app also lets users stream live performance telemetry including heart rate, speed, pace and location to www.MapMyTracks.com. This makes it possible for coaches and event organisers to follow their athletes’ progress in real-time from web-enabled devices.

OutFront 2.0 is compatible with the Wahoo Fitness ANT+ enabled range of sensors. The addition of heart rate monitoring in OutFront means that users can use heart rate zones as part of their training regime and, when needed, stream their heart rate live to their online profile on MapMyTracks.com for coaches to monitor.

Nick Tatt, CEO at Map My Tracks, said:

“We have listened to our users’ feedback, comments and suggestions and OutFront 2.0 is the end result of months of work to strip back, rebuild and develop the features that they asked for."
