Mickey Cranks, the bike shop that David Cameron opened, has been named a finalist in the West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBA), for the Best New Business Award.

The announcement was made at the WOBA Celebration of Business event hosted by Abbott Diabetes Care in Witney, attended by over 200 business representatives from West Oxfordshire.

“Kirsty and I are delighted to be finalist’s in this award category which is a reflection of the Mickey Cranks team’s dedication and hard work over the past year,” said Mick Murphy from Mickey Cranks. We will be using this commendation as a platform to continue raising our profile and to assist with our future success.”

The shop told BikeBiz that it has one of the fastest growing cycling clubs in the country, gaining over 770 members in a year, including what it says is the UK's largest ladies race team (the Crankettes).

The winner of each category is automatically entered to become the STL Communications West Oxfordshire Business of the Year 2015. The overall winner will receive a trophy designed by students from Abingdon & Witney College and made by Synolos, an organisation that helps vulnerable young people in West Oxfordshire.

Commenting on the 2015 Finalists, Jo Sensecall of the WOBA organising team, said: “It is great to see so many new and established businesses as Finalists proving that WOBA really does celebrate and connect businesses. The organising team congratulates everyone who has achieved Finalist status and would like to thank all that entered.”
