Pashley teams with sports car firm Morgan on range of classic bikes - BikeBiz
Quintessentially English bike and car brands partner

Pashley Cycles and Morgan Motor Company are to collaborate on a range of hand-crafted bicycles. The range will start with two bicycles, known individually as the Pashley-Morgan “3” and the Pashley-Morgan “8”

The range has been jointly developed by the Pashley and Morgan design teams, with some unique parts being manufactured at Morgan’s Malvern Link factory. Each bike will be hand-built at Pashley’s Stratford-upon-Avon factory.

“People often refer to Pashley as 'the Morgan of the bicycle world' and so I am delighted that there is now a close collaboration between our two companies," said Pashley MD Adrian Williams.

"Pashley and Morgan share many similarities including our unrivalled heritage, design innovation and British craftsmanship and this is evidenced in the beautiful bicycles we have produced. These bicycles will appeal to Morgan car owners and discerning cyclists alike.”

Morgan's head of design Jonathan Wells said:

“The craftsmen and women at Morgan work passionately to duly reflect the brand qualities within every product we release. When exploring new product avenues and markets, the greatest way to accomplish this, with brand integrity maintained, is to collaborate with likeminded craftspeople across industries. It made absolute sense to embark on a collaborative project with Pashley."

Founded in 1909, Morgan is the longest established independently owned British motor manufacturer, famed the world over for their range of hand-crafted sports cars. Pashley was founded in 1926.

The new bicycles will feature a curved top-tube design and will be made with Reynolds 631 tubing. Wells said the swept top-tube swept top tube "mirrors the gentle sloping shoulder line of current and future Morgan cars.”

There will also be S-bend seat stays and track ends with etched stainless faces.

The Pashley-Morgan 8 will be finished in light pearl grey and feature livery inspired by Morgan’s racing heritage. Hand-stitched black leather grips will be matched by Morgan aluminium end caps based on a dashboard control. Mudguards and chainguards will be hand crafted in-house at Morgan’s Malvern Link factory using black ash.  It is expected to retail for £1595.

The Pashley-Morgan 3 will feature hand-stitched honey-leather grips and Morgan aluminium end caps, a Brooks B17 saddle with walnut laminated wood veneer short mudguards and matching chainguard, both hand made in the Morgan wood shop. It is expected to retail for £1495.

The Pashley-Morgan range will be available to purchase through the Morgan Motor Company directly, Morgan’s global network of dealerships and selected Pashley Cycles outlets worldwide. The bikes will go on sale later this summer following their trade debut at the Eurobike show
