UK distribution centre will manage European expansion

Pedego electric bikes set for the UK

US-based electric bike firm Pedego has set up a UK distribution facility as part of its plans to grow its European presence.

Specialising in cruiser style electric assist bikes, Pedego has been growing at an unprecedented rate in its brief three year history and has been catapulted to the second place overall sales position for electric bike brands in the United States, according to the brand owner.

Daniel Robinson, head of european operations told BikeBiz: “The European market is a very different challenge to the US market. Europe and the US are comparable sizes, but Europe has dozens of languages, diverse cultures and different market dynamics from the Iberian Peninsula to Scandinavia and to the more mature e-bike markets, such as Holland and Germany, which all need to be approached in subtly different ways”.

The brand uses Japanese-sourced motors and tels BikeBiz that it took it’s time in finding the right battery source. 2012 will also see the launch of a series of commuter styled bikes and a e-trike.

Pedego has just started in Europe but dealers have already been established in Holland, Germany, Norway, UK, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. To register an interest in stocking the bikes, contact dan@pedegoeurope.com
