Adjoining a honeypot part of the Lake District, and sharing most of its charms but few of its downsides, the Eden Valley in East Cumbria is a paradise for cyclists. Mountain bikers come for Cross Fell and High Cup Nick; roadies sweat up Great Dunn Fell; and challenge riders ascend Hartside when doing the Sustrans' C2C route.

To encourage even more cyclists to come to the region, a business development project is seeking to commission inspirational cycling photographs of the Eden Valley. Nurture Lakeland is an organisation that promotes responsible, low-impact tourism. The organisation's Cycling Eden project is to expanded in 2013 and part of the expansion will involve new marketing materials, hence the need for new imagery.

Cycling Eden is part paid for by funds from the Rural Development Programme for England.

Nurture Lakeland's imagery commission - which is worth up to £13,000 - seeks to photograph many aspects of cycle tourism in the Eden Valley.

The organisation said it wants photographs of "Serious road cyclists tackling famous Eden climbs such as Hartside or Great Dunn Fell; inspiring mountain biking images featuring classic and easily identifiable Eden terrain, such as High Cup Nick or Cross Fell; groups of road and leisure cyclists enjoying quiet country lanes in the Eden Valley; leisure cyclists and families enjoying traffic-free routes such as the Stainmore Railway near Kirkby Stephen; and cyclists of all genres / abilities in key picturesque Eden destinations (e.g. Greystoke, Appleby, Kirkby Stephen, Langwathy and Little Salkeld). The photographer will also be expected to provide "inspiring and atmospheric landscape shots; and images of people and local characters, including business owners, demonstrating a place of welcome and character."

Photographers wishing to pitch need to do by 26th October 2012.
