Details are scant but an official letter to Promech's creditors from an insolvency firm confirms that the Aylesbury-based training provider will not be able to continue trading in its current form.

Promech goes pop

Promech’s Alan Finch started telling customers of his company’s descent last week.

Promech was founded by Finch and others after they left the Aylsbury Training Group, ATG. The Association of Cycle Traders, ACT, annointed Promech as its favoured training provider.

ATG did not roll down and die: it rebuilt its cycle training division.

The British cycle trade was then left in the situation that ATG could offer some parts of ACT’s Cytech mechanic’s qualification but not all.

Only Promech could provide training to levels 1, 2, and 3 of Cytech.

No doubt, this will now change. However, it’s as yet unclear what happens to any cycle mechanics – or would-be cycle mechanics – who have booked Cytech courses for the coming weeks.
