Raleigh ditches childish graphics on new Junior range

Children are adults-in-training, believes Raleigh, and the styling for the new Junior range is similar to the graphics and colour on adult bikes

Raleigh has split its junior range into three categories: Recreation, Jump and the perennial Max.

Recreation bikes are aimed at beginners or leisure cyclists.

Jump bikes are aimed at trick cyclists or those who simply want to impress their peers, says a Raleigh press release.

Max bikes are Y-framed full-suspension extreme sports bikes. Top end models come with disc brakes.

All three ranges have been designed to appeal to the brand and style conscious youth of today.

Bertrand Briois, Raleighs BMX and youth product manager, believes a more grown up look will be a turn on for older tots:

Children are becoming more sophistiated in their tastes and want the same bike as their older siblings or even adults are riding. We have therefore lost the flowery graphics and based the deign and features on the adult range but produced the bikes in smaller sizes.
