Team Raleigh goes global; Shimano to supply groupsets, MOA Sport to supply kit

Raleigh links up with US and Canada for ‘11 team

Raleigh’s sister companies in America and Canada have joined forces to boost Team Raleigh next year.

Now featuring 12 riders, the line-up will include names from the US, with the team riding a newly developed Raleigh America carbon road frameset which will be available at retail in the UK and US.

Shimano has pledged support for the team with groupsets – a deal brokered by Yutaka Taniyama from the US office. MOA Sport, supplier to HTC Columbia and manufacturer of Nalini, will be clothing supplier. Current sponsors Skoda, Michelin and Selle San Marco have reportedly upped their investment too.

“Raleigh has a fantastic pedigree in road competition,” enthused Raleigh UK MD Mark Gouldthorp. “It is very exciting to be adding further pages to this chapter in our history.”

Raleigh America vice president Chris Speyer added: “It is exciting for us to have Raleigh on an international stage within competitive road racing. We look forward to working closely with the team to continue pushing innovation in our product design and development, and to seeing some great results.”

Raleigh UK marketing manager Geoff Giddings said: “I am really excited about the new year ahead we have some fantastic support from our sponsors who believe in our team and the work Cherie and Eddie have done so far on the rider line up is very impressive, we will be releasing news of the riders shortly."
