Refuel with cycle campaign ideas at CTC/CCN conference

The Spring Cycle Campaign Conference organised by CTC and the Cycle Campaign Network is being staged in Dorchester at the end of April. As well as the handing out of National Cycling Awards for schemes that best promote cycling there will be an excellent selection of speakers including a cycling paramedic, a cycle tourism consultant and former Transport Minister Stephen Norris, the first Chair of the National Cycling Strategy Board

Norris will give the keynote speech at the CTC/CCN Spring Cycle Campaign Conference. He will tell conference attendees of the progress made towards achieving the targets of the National Cycling Strategy.

The twice yearly conference will also include talks by the Transport Research Laboratory's Stuart Reid on drivers' attitudes towards cyclists; transport consultant Les Lumsdon on tourism and traffic and a presentation by Joanna Redgwell of the Countryside Agency on the importance of recording bridleways not currently on the definitive map.

There will be an insight into the work of Norfolk cycling paramedic Ian Colquhoun, another into the joys of cycling in Dorset, while CTC National Councillor Colin Langdon will update delegates on the need to vet their local authorities' Local Transport Plan Annual Progress Reports.

The conference traditionally attracts local authority officers and representatives of health trusts in addition to CCN members and those belonging to CTC's 400-strong Right to Ride Network. Members of the bike trade are usually noticeable by their absence but perhaps the strength of this year's programme could change that?

The event costs £12 including lunch.
