Its already starting to get amazing press reviews (the best XC bike ever built?...the editors credit card details are already with the appropiate authorities, so join the queue after us... Guy Kesteven, MMB), a few selected IBDs have been market testing it and, at 23llbs, its likely to be one of the lightest full-sussers around. The Preston from ATB Sales has been designed by Jon Whyte, the ex-Formula 1 engineer who created the suspension on the much-copied Marin FRS bikes. Its got an all-new front sus set-up rather than out-of-the-box suspension forks.
ATB Sales have created a new marque for their non-Marin brand: Whyte. Production models will be available in January and the brand will be available to any top-end dealer not just Marin stockists. XT-equipped bikes will retail for £1800+, the top-flight Preston will cost about £400 more.
There will be an interview with Peter Holton of ATB Sales in BikeBiz3. Watch out for it at the fag-end of November (or, as is more likely, knowing of old the promises of printers, in the first week of December).
