Employees start to sign up to tax free bike initiative

Sainsbury’s Cycle to Work sign up hits 100

Over 100 Sainsbury’s staff members have taken advantage of the Cycle to Work scheme introduced by the retailer at the end of June, as reported by Employee Benefits.

The initiative stands to benefit 150,000 employees across 850 locations.

Head of reward at Sainsbury’s, Helen Paxton, said: “We wanted to offer cycle-to-work as a scheme because the associated benefits are far better than the ones you would get as a voluntary benefits discount. Also, we got lots of feedback from our colleagues that they were really keen to have a scheme.”

The national grocer, which retails a limited range of bicycles, recently stumped up funds for a Carlisle cycleway.
