Satmap's Active 10 gets battery boost

The bike-attaching GPS unit also gets software upgrades
Publish date:

The Active 10 GPS unit uses digital Ordnance Survey Explorer and Landranger maps. It shows users exactly where they are, gives a trail showing where they’ve been, and can also be loaded with a route showing where to go.

The device also logs statistics such as route elevation, time, distance and speed.

The Active 10 unit attaches to bike handlebars using an Abus mount.

The unit comes with free national road mapping pre-loaded. Area-specific OS Landranger and Explorer maps are sold on SD cards.

Satmap Systems of Surrey has released a new version of its software (version 1.15) for the Active 10. The upgraded version of the unit also has a new power management system which significantly reduces the overall power consumption of the Active 10. Improvements have also been made in GPS performance in signal retention under difficult conditions.

There's now the ability to download the raw track data from the Active 10 onto a PC using SatSYNC via Memory Map, Tracklogs and Map Source. This converts standard GPX data into a format recognisible by Active 10.

Satmap Systems MD Richard Calthrop-Owen said:

“The improvements and enhancements are the result of us listening to feedback directly from our customers and we are grateful for their input in helping us create a product that meets user requirements more closely than other GPS products. As a result, this new software is not just available to customers who buy an Active 10 from today onwards, but also to our existing users.”

Satmap now offers customers a power bundle comprising a Lithium-Ion Polymer (LiPol) 2,700mAh battery, a wall charger with multi-region interchangeable heads, a car charger and a USB cable.

Satmap is also offering a custom mapping service, including creating a bespoke map which can be an irregular shape as well as having multiple map sections on one SD card, useful for long distance routes or events.
