BRISTOL, England (BR&IN)Schwinn bikes went on sale at Halfords, the United Kingdoms largest bike retailer, last weekend. Halfords has been selling GT bikes since last fall.
…Though not a discount store, Halfords 300 superstores account for up to 50 percent of the United Kingdoms bike market. The chain is currently upgrading its bike sections within the stores to target specialty bicycle retailer customers…
"Halfords is a unique situation as a nationwide chain of bike stores," said Trevor Bell, managing director of Schwinn/GTs international division. Schwinn also sells in the United Kingdoms independent retailers. Bell said in Europe, Schwinn will continue to sell only to IBDs. ©Bicycle Retailer & Industry News
